Wedding in Iceland – a dream for every wedding photographer
When Esther and David from Hamburg asked me if I would accompany them to their wedding in Iceland, I was really excited.
As a wedding photographer, Iceland is probably one of the most fascinating countries on earth. In combination with a wedding, it seems bizarre, unreal and freaky. But what can I say … I said YES, because it was a long-awaited dream. Wedding in Iceland – is that possible?
Everything is different in Iceland. Also the marriage. We spent 4 days together in different places in Iceland. Together we drove through a country, which is not easy to be described.
Some people find it “beautiful”. The other say it’s “barren” and “rugged.” Often I noticed that I looked out of the window and could not get a word out. So fascinated from the landscape and this seemingly deserted country with its Icelandic ponies, volcanoes, caves, lava fields and stinking sulfur springs.
Wedding in Iceland – what a contrast!
The most time of the bridal pair shoot in Iceland we spent at Myvatn Lake. The landscape there is so versatile that we get new impressions all the time.
At freezing temperatures, snowfall and fog, I sometimes hiked with Esther and David up for more than an hour to get to a nice photo spot. The wind whipped through the great wedding dress and David noticed the ice cold in his face.
As a wedding photographer I saw a lot of beautiful locations. So I travelled to Mexico City, Dubai, Singapore, Tuscany, and many other great wedding locations.
But Iceland has grabbed me. It showed me how fascinating this earth is. What nature is like when man sparsely populates the country.
Thanks for the great impressions. Thanks for this great road trip. It’s just great that I was allowed to tell your story as a wedding photographer.
All the best for your future!
